For rugby fans, a good alternative to going to Six Nations games, which can be very crowded (and expensive) is to watch a Six Nations 'B' match. We went to Amsterdam to watch Georgia vs Netherlands (poor old Netherlands were put to the sword), but most of the cities they play in are great places to spend a weekend in - Lisbon, Madrid - even Tbilisi if you're feeling brave.
Also reminded me what an incredibly beautiful city Amsterdam is. Kindly, my dutch friend Jean-Pierre agreed to show us the ropes, even though he was only vaguely aware of what rugby is.
We finished our trip at the Rijksmuseum, which is even better than I remembered. I've included of photo of a painting of Wellington and Blucher at Waterloo, which I would hang in my dining room were I a billionaire.
